We had a fantastic time at Captain Cook's Haven, beautiful setting for a short break in this area. It took us less than 15 mins to walk into Whitby and it's right on the Cinder Trail (Whitby to Scarborough) bike route for any keen bike riders.

This is a holiday that is different, you have peace and lovely surrounding countryside. It is so nice to be able to go on walks from the site and return to a lovely cottage. We have used this same accommodation for the last 10 years and would recommend it to anybody. During this time we didn't have reason to complain about anything at all.
Mr R, RADSTOCK, Somerset

The park is lovely and quiet, with a great little swimming pool. Reception is efficient and friendly, but the best thing is the excellent standard of accommodation. Great holiday cottages, excellent standard of cleanliness and good facilities. Overall a fantastic park for those seeking a relaxing holiday but with Whitby in walking distance offering some great shops, restaurants and sights to see.

A lovely homely cottage set in a beautiful, peaceful location. Very safe for the children to play allowing them some freedom (very important nowadays) The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Ideal for couples or families wanting a relaxing break with lots to do on the doorstep. The final thing which my daughters loved was as we were facing the river, each morning they fed the ducks who came up to the front door.
Mrs Y, Blackburn, Lancashire

Captain Cook's Haven is a very nice and tidy park, not too big. It is located in a nice location near an old (not used anymore) railway Viaduct. The service level of the people running the park is very good, they are very flexible in trying to help their guests both in travel advise and in arriving/settling you into your booked accommodation. I can really recommend this park to everyone wanting to spend their holiday in this beautiful region.
Mr R, Horst - Hegelsom, Limburg

Captain Cook's Haven is an excellent base when visiting Whitby and surrounding areas. The site is good for families and couples. There are good site facilities including gas barbeques, a children's play area and an indoor swimming pool. The river provides plenty of ducks to feed and the chance to try crabbing. We found the site to be quiet, but ideally situated being close to the town and all amenities. We would certainly visit again.
Mrs P, Daventry, Northamptonshire

The holiday at Captain Cook's Haven was relaxing and an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. 27 June 2010

Captain Cook's Haven was quiet and peaceful, I have never slept anywhere so quiet! The facilities were excellent and we had milk in the fridge and a local newspaper when we arrived which made us feel very welcome! There is a steep hill from the lower level, which some may find difficult to walk up, but didn't deter us. The walk into Whitby along the wonderful cinder path track was beautiful and makes you feel like you have earned your fish and chips!
Miss B, Spalding, Lincolnshire
23 June 2010

Perfect place to chill.
Mrs R, Chorley, Lancashire
09 June 2010

The location was perfect for us, only 10 mins drive into centre of Whitby and very central for the nearby coastal towns and villages. Our accommodation was spotlessly clean and the situation of our cottage could not have been more perfect, on the banks of the river Esk and only meters away from the small playground which our daughters loved - and we could keep an eye on them from our lounge window! It was very peaceful and relaxing which was lovely after busy days out and about. We would definitely recommend this holiday and would go back without a doubt.
Mrs B, DONCASTER, South Yorkshire
04 June 2010

I would definitely recommend this holiday to my friends and family. The site itself was very good and very clean, we were welcomed and everybody was very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks stay and the weather being kind was an extra bonus. We will definitely go there again in the future.
Mr L, COVENTRY
24 May 2010

This site was in a lovely, peaceful position by the river, with lots of wildlife to look at. The grounds were well tended and the whole site had a feeling of being well cared for. The advantage of the site was the ability to be able to walk into Whitby, but anyone with a pushchair might find the road to the top of the site steep. Wonderful views from the Viaduct. I would recommend this site.
Mrs R, LEEDS, West Yorkshire
19 May 2010

If you like peace & quiet & lovely surroundings, recommended.
Miss H, LEYLAND, Lancashire
19 May 2010

Beautiful peaceful site alongside river Esk with launching facilities. Cottages are ideal for holiday use, and have outside table and seating if weather warm. Walking distance along a safe trailway into Whitby approx 25 mins. All in all an ideal holiday location.
Mrs P, Beverley, North Humberside
27 April 2010

If you are a steam enthusiast you just have to look across the river & you have a wonderful view of the steam trains going to & from Whitby. You also have a wonderful view of the holiday area from the viaduct which is situated at the entrance to Captain Cooks Haven and also makes for a very interesting walk into Whitby town. The site is very picturesque & tranquil with first class facilities & we highly recommend it.

Captain Cook's Haven is exactly that. The cottages are clean and inviting, the view is beautiful, it is a short walk over the nearby viaduct, giving impressive views over the moorlands, into the centre of Whitby. The on site swimming pool is like having a pool of your own. The playground makes the site even more suitable for children. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Mrs W, HESSLE, North Humberside
15 April 2010

The location of the park and its seclusion. The mixture of owned, rented accommodation made it feel less like a 'park'. The pool and playground were simple but great. The views were lovely and the steam trainpassing by an added bonus.

I would like to recommend Captain Cook's Haven because it is situated approximately 2 miles form Whitby (within walking distance) and you have the availability of Whitby, beaches and harbour, but you are located in a very idyllic and quiet location. The standard of the accommodation and the cleanliness was extremely high and they have an on-site swimmining pool ( a great alternative to the sea). Good, clear and precise instructions on what was available and when, and our cottage had DVD's, CD's and games which was a great surprise.

This park is ideal for those who like walking and enjoying the stunning views that seem to be in every direction. The harbour in Whitby is only a 20 minute walk away, although as my wife is disabled many will find this walk takes much less time. It is ideal for those who enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside, yet also want the bustle of a busy town nearby.
